Mind is a charity which focuses on bettering peoples mental health. It is based in England and Wales. Mind has earned the title of " the national association for mental health". Currently, the president of mind is Stephen Fry, and it was founded it 1946. It celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2016. The headquarters of Mind is based in Stratford, London. Through Mind people who are suffering from poor mental health are offered support and advice. Previously they have campaigned to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding around mental health related topics. Info-line is a service provided by mind where they offer confidential advice for the same price as a local call. The legal line offers information on mental health related law to; the public, service members, family members, carers, mental health professionals and mental health advocates. Local minds are based in a wide range of areas and offer support to the people who need it most. There are 125 local minds based across England and Wales that offer specialised support and care based on the community that they support. Mind provides advice and support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. They have stated " we won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. Mind can help bring about real change, end discrimination and promote good mental health for all through training and consultancy. They offer a range of local and national services including workplace training to develop mentally healthy offices, applied suicide intervention skills, mental health first aid and bespoke training sessions. Mind has been working very closely with Depression Alliance. Depression Alliance has been supporting people with depression for almost 40 years. Raising awareness and campaigning to improve attitudes towards depression has been central to Depression Alliance's work. On Monday 1st of August 2016, Depression Alliance merged with Mind to continue providing its Friends In Need well being network and online community as well as its 60 self help groups. Mind has many goals, this includes; Staying close: support people likely to develop mental health problems to stay well. Empowering choice: Empowering people who experience a mental health problem to make informed choices about how they live and recover. Improving services and support: Ensure people get the right services and support at the right time to help their recovery and enable them to live with their mental health problem. Enabling social participation: Open the doors to people with experience of mental health problems participating fully in society. Removing inequality of opportunity: Gain equality of treatment for people who experience both mental health and other forms of discrimination. Organisational excellence: Make the most of our assets by building a culture of excellence. Mind has many values this includes; Open: They reach out to anyone in need. Together: We are stronger in partnerships. Responsive: We listen, we act. Independent: We speak out fearlessly. Unstoppable: We never give up. Mind brings together people and organisations who want to join the fight for mental health. Mind will create more inclusive spaces - locally and nationally - that make it easier for young people and adults with mental health problems to lead their work. They will work with partners to share learning and generate new ideas to help address more complex issues and tackle injustice in the mental health system. They will continue to support the peer support movement and provide somewhere safe to give and receive peer support 24/7. Mind will meet the mental health crisis caused by pandemic head on, by supporting people face to face and through online services. They will offer life-changing mental health support drawing on personal experiences and the best available evidence. They will provide an information service that helps people with mental health problems get support, assert their rights and feel hopeful. They will work with schools and employers to create thriving places to work and learn for all - especially those with mental health problems. Mind fights for better services and rights for people with mental health problems, and push to improve attitudes to mental health. They will speak out when things are not right and will demand mental health support that respects our rights, keeps us safe and gives us hope - regardless of our background. They will lock in improvements in public attitudes towards mental health - with a focus on the least understood experiences. They will campaign for a robust financial safety net that prevents us getting trapped in poverty when we are unwell. Mind will share their platform with people who are too often ignored, so they can be a powerful force for change with Mind as a partner. Mind works with people to be a more inclusive and effective federation. Mind will work with their fantastic supporters to grow their income and encourage more people with diverse backgrounds to take part in their work. They will work shoulder to shoulder with local Minds to increase the impacts of their life changing services and local influence. They will create an inclusive workforce with an inclusive organisational culture - so they can be a great place to work for all. Mind will be an unflinching advocate for racial justice and mental health. Their support will be engaging and effective for people from racialised communities. They will invest in building an inclusive organisational culture with diverse leaders. Their ambition is to become an influential advocate for young people's rights. They will fight to ensure that all young people can learn about mental health and can easily access trauma informed mental health support. They will create more opportunities for young people to lead in their work. Mind wants to stop people with poor mental health getting trapped in poverty. They will campaign for a robust welfare safety net. They will become a leading of mental health financial inclusion, advice and support. Additionally they will build strong partnerships to tackle the complex relationship between mental health and poverty. Over 20,000 people used their online peer support communities to share, be heard and get support. They responded to over 118,000 to their support and information helplines. Their online Corona Virus information was accessed 1.9 million times, and their mental health information was accessed 20.7 million times. Local minds helped 407,000 people. 1,040 Time To Change Champions tackled mental health sigma in their communities and around 2.5 million had a conversation about mental health as a result of Time to Talk day. Nearly 33,000 people with mental health problems worked with Mind to ensure their services were up to standard and met the needs of those who needed them. Their work was mentioned in almost 17,000 media articles. We reached over 1.57 million through mind workplace well-being programmes. Stephen has been a tireless campaigner, supporter and advocate for everyone experiencing mental health problems. His 2006 documentary 'The secret life of a manic depressive' detailed his own experience of bipolar disorder as well as speaking to others who shared the same diagnosis. His film helped raise awareness of an often misunderstood condition and challenged the stigma of mental health problems. Stephen was subsequently named the 2007 Mind champion of the year in a public vote. Mind's president is their figurehead and leading ambassador, promoting their causes and advocating on their behalf. their president embodies their values; credibility, trustworthiness and authority. Stephen became Mind's president in September 2011, taking over from Lord Melvyn Bragg. "I am honoured and delighted to be the President of Mind. The mind, like the body, is prone to disease or disorder, and we must end the stigma of mental health problems. The mental health sector is the most amazing place to work at the moment and it is a privilege to follow in the footsteps of Lord Melvyn Bragg. I can only hope to live up to the standard that he has set in his fifteen successful years at the helm" - Stephen Fry. Mind's Board Of Trustees ( Council Of Management ) is responsible for their governance and strategic direction. The board is responsible for everything they do including; setting their strategic direction, scrutinising their performance and supporting and empowering their executive team of directors. They have up to 16 trustees on their board. They aim to have a board that reflects their diverse communities and over half of their trustees have experience with mental health problems. Members have terms of office lasting three years. They are eligible to stand for a maximum of three years ( 9 years in total ) They also have four sub-committees which support their board, scrutinising different layers of work to add another layer of insight. 

Strategic delivery committee: Supporting the development and implementation of their work delivering life saving services, campaigning and influencing for change. Scrutinising the delivery of their strategy both nationally and locally.  Network committee: Supporting the strategic development of their network of local Minds and driving Mind's federated structure forward. Pwyllgor Cymru: Ensuring they have the greatest possible impact in Wales and ensuring that their work reflects welsh culture, identity and devolved cultures. Finance, Risk and Audit Committee: Ensuring oversight and monitoring of the financial, personnel, and administrative activities of Mind in furtherance of and in Mind's agreed strategy, and to have delegated responsibility for the audit of Mind's work. Their governance structure includes the Mind Retail Board which is the board of Minds Matter ( Mind Retail ). This board leads Mind Retail and reports regularly to mind via the Finance, Risk and Audit committee. Mind and Mind's retail have a close relationship which is overseen through an intra-group agreement.  The Senior Management Team have overall corporate responsibility for Mind's strategy, leadership and organisation performance. The team focus at a strategic level on the business of Mind and on the delivery of its activities.
